Hannah Riley to Carry the IOM Flag in Gotland

Isle of Man Athletics is pleased to announce that Hannah Riley has been selected to be the Isle of Man Team Flag Carrier at the Island Games in Gotland 2017. Hannah will carry the flag at the Opening Ceremony however she will share the duties with Mountain Biker Elliot Baxter who will carry the flag at the Closing Ceremony.

Hannah’s has won a total of 18 Island Games medals including 6 Golds. Her first Island Games was in Gotland in 1999.

Gotland 1999 – Gold 400mh and Bronze 100mh
IOM 2001 – Silver 100mh and Silver 4x400m
Guernsey 2003 – Gold – 4x100m, Silver – 100mh, Silver 4x400m
Shetland 2005 – Gold 400mh, Silver – 100mh, Silver 4x100m
IOW 2011 – Gold 100mh, Silver 4x400m, Silver 4x100m
Bermuda 2013 – Silver 100mh, Silver 4x100m, Bronze 400mh
Jersey 2015 – Gold 100mh, Gold 4x400m

IOMAA Open T&F Meeting Timetable

Here is the timetable for the first of this years Isle of Man Athletics Association Open Track & Field Meetings which takes place on Wednesday 17 May at the NSC, hosted by Manx Harriers.

Whilst this meeting is open (age groups U13 and above) we will also be using it as a Junior Inter Club match with the first two athletes from each Club in each event (U13, U15 and U17) counting towards the match.  Please ensure that you wear your Club Vests.

Registration will take place in Manx Harriers Clubhouse from 5.30pm for a 6.15pm start.  Cost will be £2 for the first event and £1 for each event thereafter (max 3 events per competitor – all age groups).

YDL 2017

Team IOM Youth will again be competing in the UK Youth Development league in 2017. The team competes in the North West Division 1 League at various venues around the region. Each fixture comprises of a day trip from the Island and are scheduled on the following dates this season:

22nd April 2017
20th May 2017
17th June 2017
15th July 2017

The team is comprised of athletes from each of Manx Harriers, Northern AC and Western AC in the Under 15 and Under 13 age groups (School years 6 thru 9 ). Representatives from each club meet prior to a fixture to select a team.

To be considered for the team an athlete MUST BE A PAID UP FIRST CLAIM member of one of the clubs. If you are unsure of your membership status, you should check with your club membership secretary. It is also very important that your membership is renewed promptly for the 2017 season and you are registered with UKA.

Athletes who regularly attend their club training sessions and are willing to compete in a number of disciplines if required will be put forward by their club for selection.

Athletes may be selected for their perceived potential and not necessarily their current performance.

Registration forms will soon be available from Club Representatives but in the first instance we are asking athletes to register their interest by emailing the following details to Niamh Goddard , the YDL administrator at ydladmin@iomaa.info

Isle of Man Junior Championship Pentathlon – Results

The Isle of Man Athletics Association held an open Junior Pentathlon Championship on 3rd September 2016 at the NSC, Douglas.  The conditions were far from ideal but everyone did really well.  Here are the results.
