We’re hiring a new, part-time Athletics Development Officer

Isle of Man Athletics is a forward thinking, progressive association that oversees a multiple faceted structure of athletics in the Isle of Man.

IOM Athletics are looking to hire an ADO to drive Athletics on the Isle of Man forward. Working with various stakeholders including the Athletics clubs and IOM Sport, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and progression of IOM Athletics 3-year development plan. Increasing participation, improving infrastructure supporting the voluntary network will form the bulk of the day to day.

Salary – Based on experience
Hours – 21 per week
Period – Initial 3 year contract

As Development Officer you’ll play a key part in our efforts to deliver our strategy, continuously improve the experience, helping to ensure that activities provided are both enjoyable and safe. You’ll work directly with all of partners, commercial and otherwise to deliver this and raise the overall standards.

The ideal candidate will have a background in sport and a Higher Diploma/Degree level qualification in a sports related area or equivalent, and be passionate about sport. You will require experience in dealing with volunteers/organisations/athletics events in a support capacity.

In addition, excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills are required with a strong working knowledge of Excel, Word and Email. The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Time management skills are essential. A level 2 UKA coaching licence or working towards this within an agreed timescale.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Isle of Man Athletics Association will be held at the Manx Harriers Clubhouse, NSC on Tuesday 23 November 2021 at 7.45 p.m. to transact the following ordinary business:

  1. To receive reports from the Officers;
  2. To elect Officers who will be responsible for the local administration of the sport in the ensuing year;
  3. To elect two Honorary Auditors;
  4. To conduct other appropriate business.

Law Trust Cross-Country League Round 2 – Sunday 7th November

It’s less than a week until the second round of the series to be hosted by Western AC at QE2 School in Peel. Details of timetable, course maps and general instructions will be posted during the week.

Please check the timetable carefully when it is published as it will differ from Round 1. Each host club organises its own timetable best suited to course length etc.

Important entry information is as follows:

1 – Entry is online only. If you are one of the 300 people who entered prior to the first round, and you have paid in advance for the full series, you do NOT have to do anything this time or for the remainder of the series. Just turn up on the start line a few minutes before the start time of your race wearing your race number which you have already been issued with. If you have lost your number you will need to attend the registration desk in the school building between 12 noon and 1pm on Sunday for a replacement. There will be a small charge.

2 – If you have already entered but only paid for the first round, you will need to make payment prior to racing on Sunday. You can pay online (preferably), or by cash or cheque (payable to IOM Athletics) at the desk on Sunday between 12 noon and 1pm. See the link below for payment details. As above, keep your number from the previous round.

3 – If you have already entered and paid, but did not run in the first round and have not collected your race number, these can be collected from the desk between 12 noon and 1pm on Sunday.

4 – If you are not one of the 300 who have already entered you need to follow this link to enter online. Entries will close at midnight on Friday and no entries will be available after that. New Treasurer required

After many years of fantastic service, Robbie Watterson is standing down as the Treasurer of Isle of Man Athletics.  Robbie is looking to spend more time on his first love of motorbikes!  Sadly, this means we now need to find somebody new to take on this important and fulfilling role.

The Treasurer is responsible for the managing the flow of money into the Isle of Man Athletic Association (IOM Athletics) and for allocating and recording how that money is spent. This is a vital role as the treasurer works to ensure IOM Athletics is able to meet its day-to-day expenses.

The Treasurer is a key member of the IOM Athletics Executive Committee working with the other committee members in planning the development of IOM Athletics e.g. creating annual budgets, estimating funds required for a future projects, projecting income for future years to contribute towards prudent planning of IOM Athletics future.

Responsibilities of the Treasurer

  • Managing IOM Athletics income and expenditure and its assets and liabilities
  • Maintain bank account(s) in the name of IOM Athletics in accordance with mandate ratified by the Committee
  • Producing an end of year financial report
  • Identifying a suitable individual to independently review the annual accounts
  • Regularly reporting back to the IOM Athletics committee on all financial matters
  • Efficient payment of invoices and bills
  • Depositing cash and cheques that IOM Athletics receives
  • Keeping up to date financial records
  • Developing plans and objectives to support IOM Athletics strategy
  • Liaising with IOM Sport on relevant financial aspects

This is a volunteer role.  No previous experience is required, just enthusiasm and an interest in the future of athletics on the Isle of Man.  A full handover will be given.
