Junior Inter Club Match – 4th May 2016

Isle of Man Athletics are pleased to announce the results of the Junior Inter Club Match held during the Track & Field Open meeting on 4th May 2016.

Points were awarded to the first two athletes from each Club, in each event, on a scale 6-1.  The Club with the highest number of points gained over the match are the winners.

U13 & U15

1st with 202 points – Manx Harriers
2nd with 194 points – Northern AC
3rd with 78 points – Western AC

As you can see it was really close.  If split between male and female events then Manx Harriers won the womens events and Northern the boys.

Interestingly if you then add the U17 results to the above Manx Harriers increased their lead to 264 points, Northern to 229 points and Western with 136 points.  Manx Harriers dominated the U17 womens category but this was mainly due to their being only 1 person in the events. Northern & Western were much stronger in the U17 Mens events.

Well done to everyone that took part.

Northern League 2016

It’s that time of year when planning for this seasons Northern League trips have reached a critical point.

Last season we were so close to winning our league and getting a chance at promotion.  West Cheshire our main rivals, who we beat twice last season,  succeeded in getting promoted to Division One so it just shows how capable we are of doing the same. Promotion does not only elevate Team IOM to a higher division it also provides you with an even higher quality of competition.

The Northern League also provides an ideal opportunity for our U17 athletes to compete at a level, which whilst challenging, is well within their capability and to enjoy being part of a team which has been a starting point for many of our elite athletes, many of which still compete. If you are a new U17 and would like to have a chat about the Northern League and what it offers then please get in touch.

In order to get a greater understanding of the athletes available for each trip I would ask that you complete and return a Northern League Commitment Form.  I would also ask that you do this a soon as you can.

This year the matches are as follows:

Saturday, 7 May – Robin Park, Wigan (day trip)
Sunday, 5 June – Edge Hill, Ormskirk (overnight stop)
Sunday, 3 July – Trafford (overnight stop)
Saturday, 6 August – Sports City, Manchester (day trip)

Once I have an understanding of the numbers travelling I will be able to provide more details regarding costs.  It has however been agreed that your Club will again fund you to 50% of the total costs.

Remember this is the season to be putting your performances in for selection for Island Games.  The Northern League provides an ideal completion for you to gain the standards required and show the selection committee your performances over a period of time.

The Northern League is for 1st claim members of Manx Harriers, Western AC and Northern AC only.  If you wish to be considered then please ensure that you have paid your annual membership fees to you Club and that your Club has paid your EA fee.  Checks are made and the last thing we want is to have points docked because you haven’t paid your fees!

If you are an Official and available to join us then there are two funded spaces from each Club.  Please also complete the Commitment Form so I can organise who the officials will be for each match. Remember we need 1 timekeeper, 1 track official and 4 field officials one of which must be a level 2B.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in taking part then please pass this information onto them.

I would like to thank you in advance for returning your forms promptly!

Microgaming Isle of Man Cross Country League – Round 5 Results

The results (provisional) of the Microgaming Isle of Man Cross Country League Round 5 of the Cross Country League have now been posted.

Well done to everyone who took part or volunteered on the day.

The IOMAA would like to thank Western AC for their efforts in ensuring that the event took place given the recent weather conditions.

Microgaming Cross Country League – Round 5

We are pleased to confirm that the final round of the Microgaming Cross Country league will go ahead as planned this Sunday 14th February at the QE11 High School in Peel. However in order to protect the school field as much as possible we have taken the decision to reduce the number of laps for the Under 15 age groups and older (excluding short course!). These age groups will run 1 lap less than usual for Peel, please see the amended timetable.

As usual we would like to remind spectators that dogs are not permitted on school property and also due to road works on the main road outside the school any late comers may find it difficult to get a parking space, please arrive early to use the car parks or car share where possible.

Finally many thanks to the school for allowing us to proceed with this event as planned.
