A small group of Isle of Man athletes travelled to Bedford for the England Athletics U20 & Senior Track & Field and Combined Events Championships, competing against some of England’s finest athletes. The championships took place from Friday 3rd until Sunday 5th July, and provided an excellent opportunity for the Island’s athletes to test themselves against high-quality national competition.

Aimee Christian (Manx Harriers) lined up in the Senior Women’s 400m Hurdles, finishing sixth in her heat in 1:07.20. Battling a strong field and a challenging headwind in the home straight, Aimee produced a determined performance and gained further valuable championship experience at national level.

Carla Teece (Northern AC) opened her championships in the Senior Women’s 100m, clocking a wind-legal season’s best of 12.38 to finish sixth in her heat. The performance represents another positive step forward as she continues to build momentum this season.

Samuel Perry (Northern AC) lined up twice in the Senior Men’s 800m. He produced a superb run in his heat to finish third in 1:52.71, securing automatic qualification for the final. Returning the following day, Samuel placed eighth overall in 1:59.43. Competing through the rounds at a national championship provides invaluable experience, and the weekend will undoubtedly benefit his continued development.

Regan Corrin (Manx Harriers) returned back home with two medals in the U20 competition. On Saturday, Regan claimed the bronze medal in the Long Jump with a jump of 7.57m. Although the jump was assisted by a +3.6m/s tailwind it highlighted the excellent form he is currently in. He followed this up on Sunday by securing the silver medal in the High Jump, clearing 2.09m.

Congratulations to all of the Isle of Man athletes who represented their clubs and the Island at these championships.
