The Isle of Man Athletics Association (IOMAA) is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who may be interested in taking on the role of Athletics Co-ordinator for the Isle of Man 2029 Island Games.
This is a significant role and a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in the planning and delivery of the Athletics programme at what will be a major sporting event for the Island.
The Athletics Co-ordinator will work closely with IOMAA, the Island Games Sports Co-ordinator, the National Sports Centre, the IIGA Athletics Technical Committee, visiting Island teams, officials and volunteers to ensure the successful delivery of the Athletics programme.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering the Athletics programme for the 2029 Island Games.
- Co-ordinating officials, volunteers and Games makers.
- Liaising with visiting Island team managers, athletes, coaches and support personnel.
- Co-ordinating equipment and technical requirements.
- Supporting competitor registration and results management.
- Working with the wider Games team on areas including transport, medal ceremonies, spectator facilities and other operational requirements.
- Ensuring the Athletics programme is delivered safely and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and IIGA requirements.
The role is voluntary, with reasonable out-of-pocket expenses covered. The successful candidate will need to be available for a number of key dates in the build-up to the Games, including the 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands, the 2028 Isle of Man Pre-Visit and the Isle of Man 2029 Island Games.
We are looking for someone with strong organisational and interpersonal skills, experience of organising or managing events or competitions, and a genuine passion for Athletics and the Island Games. Knowledge and experience of Athletics, its structure and governance, and the Island Games would be advantageous.
This is a substantial commitment, but also an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the delivery of Athletics at the 2029 Island Games and to play an important role in what will be a unique occasion for the Isle of Man.
