Isle of Man Athletics is inviting current officials to an Officials’ Social & Information Evening on Friday 6 November 2026.
The evening will provide an opportunity for officials from across the Isle of Man to come together in a relaxed setting, enjoy some food and drink, and find out more about the opportunities available to start, develop and progress within athletics officiating.
- Friday 6 November 2026
- 7:00pm – 8:30pm
- The Copper Still, Douglas
- Food and drink provided
Develop your officiating
The evening will introduce the IOMAA Officials Development Pathway and explain how officials can progress through the different stages of officiating — from volunteering at events and becoming an Assistant Official, through to Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4.
The pathway is designed to give officials a clear route to gain experience, achieve qualifications and progress at their own pace.
There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the different disciplines available, including:
- Track Judging
- Field Judging
- Starting
- Starter’s Assistant
- Timekeeping
- Photofinish
- Race Walking
- Cross Country
- Road Running
- Multi-Terrain
Officials can specialise in one discipline or develop their experience across several areas, with the aim of finding a role that suits their interests and the competitions they would like to support.
Thinking about trying something different?
The evening is also aimed at current officials who may be interested in starting in a different area of officiating.
Perhaps you’re currently involved in one discipline but would like to learn more about another, or you’re unsure what your next step should be. This will be a chance to speak with others, understand the different pathways and identify opportunities to get involved.
IOMAA is also looking at how it can better support officials through mentoring, suitable competition opportunities, relevant courses and progression, helping officials to gain the experience they need to move forward.
An opportunity to get together
Above all, the evening is intended to be an informal and enjoyable opportunity for our officials to get together, share experiences and discuss the future development of officiating on the Isle of Man.
Current IOMAA officials are invited to attend.
If you are able to attend, please contact Ollie Lockley at ado@iomathletics.com to confirm your attendance, as this will help with catering numbers.
We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to develop the next generation of athletics officials on the Isle of Man.
